From the outset of this construction project, the key objective was to meet the new European Union building regulation known as Réglementation Thermique 2012 (RT2012). This standard came into force on 1st January 2013 and required that new buildings attain an energy efficiency performance three times greater than the existing standard. Henceforth, residential buildings will be required to have a primary energy consumption lower than 50 kWh/m²/year, against the previous 150 kWh/m²/year - hence Bastide La Belle's amazing energy efficiency as depicted in the chart below.
Plans and final design was completed by renowned architect, Claude Dufour.
